Conversation between Josh and Anna and me:
Josh: "Mom when I'm 12 and 19 I get to go to the temple and I'm almost there!"
Anna:" I go to temple too, get married"
Me: " Who are you going to marry Anna?"
Anna: "Auntie Jessie"
Me: (totally laughing because that's who Josh wanted to marry at this age too.) "Sorry sweetie auntie Jessie is already married and you have to marry a boy."
Anna: "Ummm I don't want to, I just want rings and earrings."
Love it! She has been noticing accessories an alarming amount lately - especially since I rarely wear any. At Josh's preschool graduation she stood up on her chair and yelled:
"Mom, that girl has Kennedy's (our neighbor) shoes!" She was not pleased thinking she stole them from her. After I consoled her she continued to point out people's pretty earrings and shirts. I think I'm in trouble.....
She also woke up from her nap today and said, while brushing her hair out of her eyes, "Mom I really need to brush my hair it's a little crazy!"
I really need to video her talking, it's my favorite age for talking when they talk a mile a minute in their little baby voice.
Josh has had a spiritual awakening of late. I'm not quite sure what triggered it. He says it's from listening to Scripture Scouts (CDs that I totally recommend). He is constantly telling me that he misses Jesus so much it makes him cry sometimes. And he'll bust out with "I just love our family and Heavenly Father and Jesus so much!" Several times a day.
Ummm, and he prays constantly. Which is darling. He had a lesson in primary that triggered this aspect by the way. It has gotten to the point that Justin asked me the other night, if we should talk to him about not randomly breaking into prayer when he's at school or playing with his friends. I told him, that it's summer, so we don't have to worry about school ridicule, and I don't think we should discourage prayer in any form at this point.
And an excerpt from the journal I keep for Josh:
My favorite thing that you have said so far today is, "We can't live without bums." So true. After this statement I said, "That is very good thinking, why do you say that?"
"because then we couldn't drink milk or eat food" It would be difficult it's true, I love the logic that goes on in your exceptionally brilliant head.
Other favorite things that you've said lately:
We have been reading in the New Testament lately. We were reading about when Jesus was 12 and his parents found him in the temple. "If he was 12 he must have lost all his teeth by then..." That is of course exactly what I wanted you to get out of that story:)
Someone has also been talking to him about love:
From a couple of weeks ago:
"Mom I think I fell in love."
"Really with who."
"The girl holding the yellow balloon at Taco Bell" - where we had gone for dinner a couple of nights previously.
"Really what did she look like."
"She was as tall as me with curly brown hair."
From yesterday:
"Mom I think I just fall in love with girls."
"Ok"
"It started when I was born, I just fell in love with Grams, then you, then Anna when she was born, and I still love Ava from California, and I think now I love Ella( a friend we play with frequently)
Kids are great!
In other news, Anna is totally potty-trained. She pretty much decided and did it herself, since I didn't want to go there while I was feeling crappy. However, she is not perfect and did have a couple of accidents, including diarrhea all over the playground equipment. such is life.
